Carnival costume of a bat. Bat costume for Halloween Bat costume pattern

Good day, friends! Dress up for Halloween? Do not deprive yourself and your children of this opportunity. I recommend starting with simple images if you have never tried anything like this before. Over time, your imagination will run wild so much that neither being busy nor lack of themed accessories will interfere with creating a super outfit! One of the simplest options, in my opinion, is a bat Halloween costume for adults and children. To make it yourself, you don’t need seamstress skills or expensive materials. It is enough to find some black fabric and old dark clothes in the closet.

Let's start with the children's version, the adult version is done in a similar way.

Bat costume: how to make for a child

Dress up as someone scary enough to scare others, but not be afraid of yourself? Yes, every child dreams of this! This is why children are crazy about carnivals. Help the baby transform into a flying mouse. The costume is ideal for boys and girls under 12 years of age. Little ones look especially cute in this outfit.

You will need just 3 steps and some old clothes to enjoy the effect with your baby. Start by taking your measurements. Measure the child's arm span from the tip of the right arm to the tip of the left. Add some to spare for next year (just make a fold in the middle to remove excess fabric). The height of the section for the wings should be approximately 20-25 cm greater than the distance from the base of the neck to the tailbone.

As for the fabric, choose a dense, not loose material. Best idea– felt, as well as nylon, raincoat fabric.

How to make wings:

  1. Fold the fabric in half in a rectangle and cut out the neckline.
  2. At the top, fold a strip inward in width equal to the width of the sleeve. outerwear child. From the bottom of the fold to the middle, cut out notches in the shape of a semicircle. These will be the edges of the wings.
  3. Place the seam as in the picture. If the fabric frays, fold the edges.

This is all. 3 steps and your child’s bat costume is ready. Pair it with dark trousers and a turtleneck or a dark skirt and leggings.

Costumes for adult bats are made using the same principle. Special headdresses with ears are sewn onto the head or hoops with ears are used. The girls look great in tight black overalls and high boots with homemade wings on their backs.

See how simple it is! Dress up as a bat with your little one and go to a fun Halloween party! Share the instructions for a simple costume with your friends. And don't forget to visit often. See you again!

Sincerely, Anastasia Skoracheva

If the holiday took you by surprise, check out our review of the simplest Halloween costumes that can be made from scrap materials with a minimum of time and effort. To create these outfits, you need to have black or black and white clothes in your wardrobe, to which we will add some interesting accessories and details - and the look for Halloween is ready! Of course, if time is limited, then it will not be possible to create a complex and unusual costume, because . To do this, you need to invent it, buy all the necessary materials for it and create it, which will take a lot of time. Therefore, if time is short, you can create a costume using the appropriate accessory or modifying the clothes that you have in your wardrobe. From the proposed list of options, you can combine several points, then the costume will turn out even more interesting.

1. Patterned tights or leggings to complement black clothing. The drawing shows bats, ominously grinning faces, black cats and other attributes of dark forces!

To create such a drawing, you will need one tool from this list: white adhesive paper, or acrylic paint, or a black marker, or white printer paper + PVA glue. Using a black marker or acrylic paint, you can easily create a pattern on sheer tights. If the tights are black and opaque, use adhesive paper, or acrylic paint, or white paper + PVA glue. Choose tights that you don’t mind, because... it will become impossible to return them to their original state. So, if you want to apply a design to thin transparent tights, then a marker in a contrasting color is ideal for this. The procedure is as follows. We print out stencils of bats or other designs and cut them out along the outline. In places where it is necessary to apply a design, we wrap the leg in paper and secure it with tape. We put tights on top and apply stencils. We outline the stencils with a black marker, remove the stencil and paint over the outlines of the drawings. We take off the tights and remove the paper from our legs. The paper is needed here to avoid getting your feet dirty with the marker.

In a similar way, you can apply a pattern to thick black tights. Only for outlining the stencils we use a piece of chalk, and then paint over the drawing itself acrylic paint. An alternative method is to place the designs on white printer paper or adhesive paper and cut out along the outline. Adhesive paper can be glued directly to the tights, and if you are using printer paper, you can glue the designs using PVA glue. Just remember that all this must be done with tights on your legs, and it is better to first protect your legs with a sheet of paper, as in the first option. PVA glue or paint can be quickly dried with a hairdryer. Here's what you can get.

You can use the following as stencils:

2. A knitted T-shirt or any other clothing in black or white with a cut-out skull or skeleton. Of course, we take clothes that we don’t mind cutting. The image can be cut out from both the front and back.

Making such clothes is very simple. We print or make a stencil ourselves, cut out the design along the contour and transfer it to the fabric. Next, we cut out the design on the T-shirt along the contours. Here are some skull stencils for creating these T-shirts.

You can create other images in a similar way, for example, a cat, a bat, a web or other images with a more complex design.

The picture below shows a master class on cutting out cobwebs on a T-shirt.

3. Skull or bones painted on clothing with acrylic paint. Instead of cutting out images of a skull and crossbones on a T-shirt and other clothing, you can draw them on with acrylic paint. You can draw the skeleton's ribcage either freehand or using a stencil.

Using this idea you can create very interesting drawings on your clothes.

4. Tights with a skull image. In the next option, we suggest you “artistically” tear your tights. You can take tights that already have drawstrings and holes and simply finish what you started with scissors and your hands.

5. Witch's shawl. In addition to the previous ideas, you can make a shawl that looks like a hundred-year-old cobweb, or like the robes of an evil witch. It can be created from an old scarf or scarf, or from a piece of black fabric. Using scissors, you can cut spider web patterns, consisting of thin strips of fabric, onto a scarf. From a piece of black fabric you can make a cape with a hood, as in the picture below. You just need to make a small seam at the top of the fabric on the hood, and also cut out holes for the arms with scissors.

6. You can also make a more complex version of a Halloween costume from a piece of fabric - bat costume. If the edges of the fabric do not fray, then you do not need to overcast them. We cut out the wings from the fabric, as in the picture below, the central part can be basted to the clothes with a few stitches, and small elastic bands for the fingers can be sewn on the ends of the wings so that the wings can be straightened. You can also make ears: to do this, sew fabric folded in half in the form of triangles to a black headband. To keep the ears on the headband, you can first glue two triangles of cardboard to the headband, and only then cover them with fabric. You can simply paint the cardboard with black paint and do without using fabric. This is what might happen as a result.

7. Cobweb on the skirt. If you are going to wear a black skirt or dress, you can use white braid or rope to create a spider web effect on it. We fasten part of the rope to the belt and tie separate pieces of rope to it at equal distances so that they fall down. You can see the creation diagram in the picture.

8. Shoe decoration. To make your Halloween shoes more interesting, you can cut out wings from hard fabric, or better yet, leatherette, and fasten them to your boot or shoe with lacing, as in the picture.

Here is a stencil for creating these wings.

9. Another simple option for creating a Halloween look is bat bow tie, real vampire accessory !

Next, we offer a master class on creating a bat bow tie. It is best to use leather or leatherette to create it. In addition, felt or satin are suitable. The satin needs to be glued with non-woven fabric from the back for elasticity so that the butterfly does not lose its shape. The materials you also need are glue or a needle with black thread and a black elastic band.

Download the stencil below, transfer it to fabric and cut along the outline.

We wrap a strip of fabric in the middle of the butterfly and glue both ends at the back or stitch them, but so that there is some space between the butterfly and the fabric ring, sufficient to thread the elastic through. Next, we thread the elastic through the ring and try it on the neck, sewing both ends of the elastic. That's it, the vampire accessory is ready for the holiday!

10. Another option for a Halloween accessory is headband with decoration. The headband can be decorated with the same bat butterfly that we made in the previous paragraph, or with paper bats.

To make a headband with bats, you need to print out stencils or draw them by hand. Above in the article we already provided a stencil of bats, which you can use for this project. Using a stencil, we cut out bats from black paper and fold them in half. Cut the wire into several pieces of slightly different lengths. One end of the wire must be wrapped around the rim, and the bats must be glued to the other using glue. The headband with bats is ready!

Mice cut out of paper or leatherette can be glued to the ends of hairpins or bobby pins - and you have another decoration with bats for Halloween!

You can also glue a real twig from a tree to the rim and “seat” bats or crows on it.

11. The final touch - halloween makeup! Not requiring too much effort, but effective makeup will complement the image you created!

All children and teenagers love holidays, especially various costume events. Do not deny your son or daughter the pleasure of celebrating Halloween, because themed outfit can be done in minutes without putting a significant dent in your wallet. Don't believe me? Especially for you simple instructions with a step-by-step description of how to make a bat costume with your own hands!

Basic clothing for the look

The basis of the costume will be a set of black clothes. Choose plain and simple things. It's best if it's also trousers/leggings. For a girl, you can choose a skirt. It is also better to choose shoes in dark shades, this also applies to other accessories. What are we going to make a bat costume out of? All you need is a piece of black fabric, preferably with frayed edges. If you have a broken umbrella of the desired color on hand, simply remove the fabric cover from the knitting needles and make a hole for the head - the wings are ready. However, it is not at all difficult to sew them yourself, even without being a professional seamstress.

Bat wings: first option

You don't have to make a pattern to create a costume. Measure out the required amount of fabric; to do this, ask the “model” to spread her arms to the sides and measure the distance from one wrist to the other. You have a “wingspan”. You can determine the maximum length by dividing the resulting value by 2. Next, all you have to do is symmetrically cut out the edge trim on the wings. The finished wings need to be sewn to the T-shirt. If you want to make a rigid frame, make two identical parts. After that, sew them together, inserting wire bones for rigidity.

Bat Wings: Second Option

For this option for making a spectacular accessory, it is better to take stretchy fabric. The bat costume using this pattern is sewn based on two measurements. The length of the fabric is, as in the first option, the distance from wrist to wrist (arms are spread out to the sides at shoulder level), and the width is from the back of the head to the waist, plus half the circumference of the widest part of the arm. Fold the fabric in half in the direction of length (this value has decreased). Cut a neck in the resulting corner. The Halloween bat costume is almost ready. It remains to put the sleeves on top - fold a strip equal to the half-circumference of the widest part of the arm. After this, cut out the edges. Finally, sew the intended sleeves - the wings are ready, you can try them on.

How to complement the bat costume?

Black clothes and homemade wings will be enough for others to understand who you are trying to portray. But, if you add interesting details to the costume, the image will turn out more vibrant. Make ears - from fabric reinforced with cardboard or wire frame. The most convenient way to attach them to your head is by sewing them onto a regular thin black hoop. The ears can also be sewn to a regular elastic band. What do bat ears look like? Remember the movie about Batman: these are elongated triangles that are quite narrow at the base. If you know how to sew well enough, try making a mask that covers your face except your eyes. You can make a bat costume with your own hands from the most unusual materials and accessories. Try adding black fingerless gloves if you happen to have them on hand. You can also add plastic “vampire” fangs. You can complement the look with suitable makeup. Draw expressive eyebrows in black, you can try to highlight your nose and lips. Now your costume is ready, all you have to do is pick up a candy bag to go with it - and you can go to a themed party.

The image of a fearsome bat crawling out in the dark is associated with Halloween costumes, the most mysterious holiday of the year. But you can transform into a bat for any costume event!

Dressing up a cute mouse is easy to do and won’t take much time. The clothes you will need are dark in color, and styling them will take a minimum of money.

Making a Bat Suit

The base for your DIY project will be trousers, a skirt or a dress. If you are making wings for a child, black leggings are also a great and practical option.
You will need:
  • Fabric or other material (for example, felt);
  • Scissors;
  • Hot glue (it is advisable to have a glue gun);
  • Headband (to create ears);
  • A small piece of wire;
  • Sewing supplies.

Making bat wings

  • Using a centimeter, measure the length from the middle of the back to the wrist - this is the length of one wing. You will need 2 times more fabric.
  • Fold the fabric in half.

  • Trim the bottom edge with zizzags. The wings should be long at the fold below, and short at the top, near the hands. When you turn around, you will see a triangle.

  • At this stage we will need clothes: lay out the top of your outfit on a flat surface, place the wing blank on top so that the long side of the triangle aligns with the sleeves and shoulder line. Zsecure with pins;

  • At the stage of fixing the wings, you can use glue if the top will not be used anymore. To do this, simply apply a small circle of glue to the fabric between the shoulder blades, then secure the wings and wait for the glue to dry. We do the same on both wrists.You can sew on the blank or simply apply a couple of stitches in the places where the glue should be.

  • Let's move on to making the ears.

We complement the suit with accessories

We'll make it as decoration. Buy an interesting mask or make one yourself. Girls can wear tights with patterns in the form of cobwebs, as well as small fangs sold in carnival stores!
For the ears, you can use not only a headband, but also any outfit that suits the look, to which you can attach homemade ears: a neat bowler hat or even hair clips.

  • We cut out two pieces in the shape of a diamond; the edges of the diamond may be slightly rounded. We select sizes individually.
  • Fold the pieces in half across the rim.
  • We apply the wire according to the resulting shape and secure it to the rim.

  • Apply glue along the edges and connect the two parts, holding your fingers for a few seconds so that the parts are secured.

Attach black feathers to create extra volume for the ears.

Examples of some masks, for the manufacture of which you only need glue, dark cardboard or fabric, scissors and a thin rubber band or tape:

From carnival shops, reminiscent of the famous superhero Batman or simply elegant accessories that will complement your outfit:

Transforming into the image of a bat

For girls, an important element is makeup. In this image, he should be unusual and memorable. Apply the appropriate one:
  1. Cover your face with white paint to give the skin a pale effect.
  2. Draw gray circles around the eyes with shadows, and paint the lips with black or scarlet paint like blood.
  3. Apply mascara to your eyelashes, and draw a small spider web or fangs with black paint.

For complete immersion in the image, use colored lenses.

If the transformation into a bat is for a child, then use a funnier and lighter makeup:

You don't have to wear a mask, draw it or something similar on your face yourself, it won't take you much time:

You are completely ready if:

  • The outfit is already on you;
  • The costume is completed with accessories (mask, ears, fangs);
  • The face is made up or there is graceful makeup.

Happy holidays to you!

Halloween is one of the most fun holidays of the year. And, of course, in order to look impressive and bright at the holiday, you will need an appropriate carnival costume. In this master class you will learn how to sew a bat costume for a child with your own hands.

Master class “Bat costume for girls”

  1. Draw a template of one bat wing on a large piece of paper. Next, fold the fabric you chose for the costume (such as felt) in half. Naturally, we take the fabric black.
The wings will be fixed on the child's shoulders using elastic bands. Make loops of the required size from two elastic bands (preliminary fitting is required!) and pin them symmetrically in the very middle of the upper part of the pattern. The tips of the mouse's wings are attached to thumbs child's hands so that they can be easily put on and taken off. To do this, we sew a small ring of elastic on both wings. This way, the girl can put on or take off the costume herself. The resulting masquerade outfit looks a little dark, so let's decorate it. To do this, we paste over the places of each fold of the fabric with two strips of masking tape, and in the interval between them we glue sparkles, rhinestones or sequins. When the glue dries, remove the tape. And finally, we’ll add bat ears to the costume. Cut two small triangles from the same felt fabric. The white lines show where the cuts need to be made. The resulting ears should be glued to a regular black hair hoop.

Bat wings and ears can be used in combination with any black clothing. This could be a regular T-shirt and leggings, a dance leotard, or any other suitable outfit.
