When does the autumn holidays begin? Holidays in quarters. How the school holiday calendar is formed

Vacations are periods of rest from studying for schoolchildren.

In Moscow, the vacation schedule is set by the city Department of Education. It is the same for all schools.

The winter vacation

The period of winter school holidays depends on the educational system adopted at the school.

Students have one winter break in quarters: at the end of December - beginning of January. Vacations last 10-14 days. First graders receive an additional winter weekend in February lasting one week.

Students have two winter holidays per trimester: at the end of December - beginning of January and in February. The first vacation lasts 10-14 days, the second - a week.

For students in quarters in Moscow, the winter holidays in the 2017-2018 academic year will take place from Monday, January 1 to Wednesday, January 10, 2018, inclusive. In fact, the rest will begin on Saturday December 30 (with a five-day training system). Students will return to classes on Thursday, January 11.

Additional holidays

The administration of an educational institution may introduce additional winter holidays if:

The air temperature is below -25 °C (for students in grades 1-4), -28 °C (grades 5-9) and -30 °C (grades 10-11);

The temperature in classrooms is below +18 °C;

The epidemic threshold for incidence exceeds 25% of the total number of students in the school.

Full physical and mental development for children involves alternating periods of intense work and rest. The first is embodied in the form of an intense educational process, and the second is in the holidays, which all schoolchildren, regardless of class and age, look forward to with great impatience! After all, it’s so nice to forget about the “granite of science” for at least a week and indulge in happy idleness, playing games with friends and relaxing with your parents.

Information about what days holidays are planned in Russian schools is of interest not only to students, but also to their mothers and fathers, because this is the only way to monitor the process of correcting low grades, plan periods of family vacation, trips to visit grandmothers, and participation in competitions.

Vacations help schoolchildren take a break from the difficult educational process!

In addition, during the holidays, students in grades 9 and 11 can schedule more visits to tutors in order to intensify the process of preparing for the national exam. Let's find out what news schoolchildren and their parents can expect from the 2018 school calendar, and also try to find out when the holidays will take place.

Innovations in the 2017-2018 academic year

Today, there is an established scheme in Russia, according to which the Ministry of Education issues a document with recommendations regarding the duration of working hours and rest periods. The main requirement of the Ministry for the management of public school institutions is that the holidays begin on the first day of the week, i.e. Monday. Otherwise, the department’s recommendations can rather be classified as a guide to action rather than an order, since the final decision is made by the pedagogical council.

There is now talk of reviving the norms that existed in Soviet time– Some officials believe that holidays should be held centrally, and not in a way that is convenient for the management of schools in different regions. This practice will help simplify the holding of all kinds of Olympiads, creative competitions and competitions, because all students taking part in this kind events will be free at the same time.

Many believe that holidays in the country should be centralized

A survey was recently conducted in Moscow asking parents, students and teaching staff of metropolitan schools to choose one option for spending the holidays that is acceptable to them:

  1. Continue the practice of the classic process of organizing vacation time, which consists of dividing school year for four quarters with short autumn, winter and spring holidays and a long rest in the summer.
  2. Divide school time into three terms and make the holidays longer.
  3. Divide the year even more fractionally - into five parts, between which there will be four vacation periods of 6-7 days each.

The structure of the academic year in terms of alternating workload and rest will not change - all the proportions recommended by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health will be observed: schoolchildren will rest for 34-35 days (excluding summer), and work the rest of the time. However, none of the proposed options managed to get a majority of votes, so the issue of organizing vacations for the 2017-2018 academic year remains open, and each school can choose vacations by trimester, module or quarter.

Without taking into account summer, schoolchildren will have 34-35 days off per academic year.

Holidays when working on quarters

The exact dates of the holidays have not yet been determined, however, from the practice of past years, the following forecast can be made:

  • autumn vacation will take place from October 28, 2017 to November 6, 2017;
  • fun days winter holidays will capture dates from December 25, 2017 to January 9, 2018;
  • spring break will take place from March 24, 2018 to April 2, 2018;
  • summer rest will begin on May 25 or June 1, 2018.

In addition, first-graders and children studying in special education classes usually receive an additional week of rest during the February frosts. It can be predicted that in the new academic year it will be February 17-26.

Holidays with a modular system

For schoolchildren who study according to a modular system, that is, 5-6 weeks that end with a seven-day vacation, the forecast for the distribution of vacation time can be presented as follows:

  • autumn holidays will most likely take a week from 10/7/2017 to 10/15/2017, and then another week from 11/18/2017 to 11/26/2017;
  • winter holidays will fall from December 30, 2017 to January 9, 2018, the second winter holidays will take place from February 17, 2018 to February 25, 2018;
  • spring holidays will continue from 04/07/2018 to 04/15/2018;
  • Summer holidays will take place as usual.

The issue of providing additional mini-vacations for first-graders remains within the competence of directors and teaching staff.

School management may give first-graders a mini-vacation

It is also worth saying that today schools in the Russian Federation can independently decide how many days in a week will be allocated for the educational process, that is, determine a five-day or six-day regime. IN Lately, while no nationwide directives had yet been issued that would need to be compulsorily observed, most schools decided that it was better to work according to the traditional system of 5 days every 2 days so that students would not be so tired.

The vacation schedule varies slightly from year to year, “sliding” according to the calendar. And this causes inconvenience for parents who prefer to plan their lives in advance - after all, in order to think through a travel route or other family vacation options, you need to know in advance the school holiday schedule for the 2017-2018 school year. When will children be free from school?

According to a long-standing tradition, autumn holidays in schools are held in the first week of November. In Soviet times, they were “combined” with the celebration of the anniversary of the October Revolution, but now they coincide with national unity, celebrated on November 4th. In 2017, the holiday will be a Saturday, and due to the postponement of the day off to Monday, November 6, adults will have a three-day mini-vacation. For schoolchildren, these days, naturally, will also be “time off” - an additional day of rest will be “added” to the usual weekly duration of the November holidays.

The end of the school year in a “traditional” school is scheduled for May 23 (or May 26, if there were additional holidays during the year). With a modular education system, children will go on summer vacation a little later, on May 31.

The vacation schedule at schools, universities and secondary vocational education institutions in Moscow is approved individually for each educational institution by its director, rector or other decision-maker. In practice, the vacation schedule rarely differs from the recommendations of a higher authority.

Russian schools live according to two academic “calendars”: quarters and trimesters. Depending on this, and also based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Education, educational institutions themselves determine the dates of the holidays. In general, it is beneficial for the school to adhere to the generally established framework, since general holidays mean greater opportunities for organizing quality children's leisure: performances, excursions, concerts, etc.

Holidays in schools with a quarterly education system

Those who study in quarters have holidays four times a year - autumn, winter, spring and summer.

Autumn holidays 2019–2020 academic year

Of these, the dates of the autumn holidays at the end of October and the beginning of November are less stable: their end date depends on National Unity Day, which is celebrated on November 4.

New Year holidays 2019–2020 academic year

New Year holidays, as a rule, begin in the last week of December and end on the 10th of January. Schoolchildren go to school on Monday. Winter holidays will continue for the 2019/2020 academic year from December 31 to January 12. First-graders will have additional holidays in winter* – from 17 to 24 February.

Spring break 2019–2020 school year

The situation with holidays in the spring is much simpler - the dates do not depend on holidays. Spring break fall in the last week of March and the first week of April. In 2020, schoolchildren will have a rest from March 23 to March 31.

Summer holidays 2019–2020 academic year

Summer holidays will start as usual - from June 1 to September 1 Schoolchildren are waiting for three whole happy months free from lessons.

* For students of first grades and classes of correctional and developmental education.

In addition to scheduled holidays, school classes may be canceled for the following reasons:

Many parents whose children are schoolchildren, and even students of general education institutions themselves, want to know in advance what the vacation schedule will be in the next 2017-2018 school year. Why? It's quite simple. Adults want to understand when their children will be free from school in order to calmly plan their family vacation or find ways to keep their children occupied. Whereas the students themselves are interested in when they will be able to “take a break” from the boredom of school everyday life.

What determines schoolchildren's vacation dates?

Every parent is concerned that his child is constantly at work, attends school, studies in sections and develops as correctly and comprehensively as possible. Firstly, it is so useful and interesting for the student himself. Secondly, he is constantly busy, which means that unpleasant situations that children so often find themselves in when they wander aimlessly all day long are excluded.

Therefore, often the approaching holidays for children make parents nervous and spend a lot of time planning the daily routine for their child. In such planning, the urgent question becomes: “How many days will the break from school activities?. Moreover, you want to know the vacation schedule in advance, so that, for example, you can understand when it is best to coordinate your next vacation from work and spend more time with your son or daughter.

However, the bureaucratic reality is such that the Ministry of Education and Science approves the recommended schedule almost on the eve of September 1st. In rare cases - a little earlier. For example, before summer. Therefore, school holidays should be officially “dated” for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year only in the near future.

At the same time, we must not forget that the Ministry of Education only recommends a list of dates for schoolchildren, taking into account the list of workdays and weekends approved by the government, the workload, and various circumstances (the same quarantine). But the heads of educational institutions directly have the right to make adjustments to suit their needs - to shift the beginning and end of the “school vacation” by 1-2 weeks.

Advice! Active interaction with the parent council and the management of the educational institution will help you stay informed about the planned dates for the holidays.

If we talk about the main reasons for changing schoolchildren’s holiday dates, there are only two of them:

  1. The calendar itself changes every year. As a rule, the days of the week shift slightly (by 1-2 days) relative to similar calendar numbers for the previous year.
  2. Our government constantly approves a new production calendar. As a result, holidays and weekends are redistributed.

Thus, an annual change in the schedule is natural, in order, for example, to avoid overlaps.

Approximate vacation dates for 2017-2018

Now on site Russian Federation There are three main education systems:

  1. by quarters;
  2. by modules;
  3. by trimester.

However, we note that the calendar modular and trimester planning approaches coincide, so children will have their holidays during the same period.

These are only approximate data. The only exceptions will be the beginning and end of training. Everything here is the same as before: on September 1, 2017 we go to school, on May 31, 2018 (junior grades earlier) we finish our studies.

What can affect changes in the calendar?

Educational institutions with a quarter system of education

The very first are the autumn holidays, which are marked by the celebration of National Unity Day - 04.11. This year the holiday falls on a Saturday, as a result of which the national holiday has been moved to the following Monday – November 6, 2018. It is better to check with the school management how exactly this transfer will be assessed by your educational institution and how it will set the time frame for rest.

As for winter, then New Year holidays 2018, as a rule, coincides with the all-Russian weekend dedicated to the celebration of the New Year and Christmas. This means that students go on vacation from approximately December 27 to 30. Therefore, January 09-10, 2018 is the beginning of the third quarter, as well as the first working day for adults throughout the country.

In the spring of the 2017-2018 academic year, no national holidays are planned, and therefore changing the period of their holding in the spring of 2018 depends only on the decision of the school management. Any unforeseen circumstances may also have an impact - for example, quarantine, during which classes are not held. As a result, it is necessary to “catch up” in order to have time to teach all the topics of the school curriculum. Because of this, the dates for the spring “vacation” of schoolchildren may be shifted.

Important! For children 6-7 years old who are going to school for the first time, there are additional winter weekends in the last week of February.

Trimester schools

Oddly enough, this education system is somewhat easier for parents, although they themselves learned differently. The fact is that the method is initially based on the following scheme: the child studies for five weeks, rests for one - and this cycle is repeated again and again. The same period lasts for modules with a different type of training.

The only exception is winter holidays, which last longer. After all, he is connected with New Year holidays, approved by the production calendar. Therefore, the number of days off during the winter break from study is always greater.

Why might deadlines be delayed?

The main reason why the final word in approving the vacation period is left to the director of the educational institution is that the palette of territorial features of each region is too large.

Thus, in a number of Siberian and northern regions, training is often canceled due to severe frosts. Another objective reason could be a severe flood or an epidemic of diseases. Therefore, you can focus on the preliminary school schedule of school days and weekends, but you should not perceive it as final and approved.

  • The official website of the school is the first source of accurate, specific information. Legislatively, every organization carrying out educational activities, it is prescribed to post an annual calendar plan of classes on its website;
  • Electronic resource: student’s diary. The information you are interested in will be posted as an announcement for parents, or you can simply scroll through the diary; if there are no classes, then you have found what you were looking for;
  • The class teacher always has information on the schedule of the educational process of his students and, of course, will tell you when the holidays begin or end;
  • A telephone call to the school principal's office. The secretary is also aware of the teaching schedule and is authorized to provide you with this information.
