We offer you a selection of ideas for creating crafts from ice cream sticks with your own hands. In this article you will find interesting options for children's creativity, as well as several practical accessories for the home. Each of these things is so simple that even a child of primary school age can cope with its manufacture (and some can be easily done by a preschooler).

Most of the suggested crafts are very funny, so children will love making them. Moreover, their creation will be preceded by the obligatory eating of popsicles by the whole family, because the main material for creating our accessories is wooden ice cream sticks. Of course, in the creative departments it’s easy to find a ready-made set of 50 or 100 wooden spatulas of this type, but is that interesting? So enjoy your favorite treat and then get down to business with the kids!

Bookmarks

Let's start with the simplest thing and make simple bookmarks, for each of which we will need only one ice cream stick. How many popsicles you eat, you will get so many bookmarks.

You also need to take:

  • a small picture (or a ready-made accessory);
  • glue;
  • paints.

The best paint to choose is acrylic, but you can also use gouache or even watercolor. True, the last option will not be too bright. If you're not too lazy to tinker, you can decorate the popsicle sticks with a marker.

An inexpensive set of acrylic paints can be ordered on AliExpress (check this link). Bright colors, excellent quality, high durability - a universal option for a wide variety of crafts.

Cut out an image of the head of any animal from a coloring book or postcard. We paint the stick the same color, then glue the structure together.

Additionally, you can cut out and paste letters onto the bookmark, laying out some phrase or the child’s name.

If you have some interesting accessories or felt from which you can cut out something interesting (a figurine of a kitten, a heart, a sun, a flower), use it.

Glue them to the tip of the stick, and decorate the piece of wood itself using a marker or stamp with an interesting print.

Picture puzzle

This is an educational toy for preschool children. Perhaps it is better for you to do it yourself or help your child. For this craft we need to take at least 8-10 ice cream sticks.

Additionally you will need:

  • any picture, postcard or photograph;
  • PVA glue.

Everything is simple here: coat the back of the picture with glue. Place the chopsticks on it (or proceed in reverse order). After drying, cut it. The educational toy is ready! Children love to put together such puzzles.

Photo frames

We have previously told you how to make your own photo frame from popsicle sticks. Here is a simpler option - children of primary school age can handle it.

In addition to sticks, we need to take:

  • paints;
  • glue;
  • any decor (felt, buttons, beads, sparkles, etc.);
  • cardboard.

Place and glue a layer of ice cream sticks onto a small piece of cardboard. Then we take four sticks and paint them any color (with paints or a marker). We fold the sticks crosswise and glue something cute and cute to them. You can lay out flowers or scatter buttons in a chaotic manner - your imagination is up to you.

You can also lay out the frames in a slightly unusual way. To do this, lay the ice cream sticks not in an even layer, but slightly pushing them out in one direction or the other.

We glue a picture or photograph on top of the panel, and cover the joints with painted sticks and decor.

Simple toy

Dragonfly or airplane? Decide for yourself. Even a preschooler can make such a toy out of sticks and clothespins with his own hands. Just help your child paint the materials, and he can handle the rest.

We will need:

  • two ice cream sticks;
  • pin;
  • two beads;
  • paints;
  • glue.

Paint and decorate the clothespin (you can sprinkle it with glitter, after smearing it with glue). Glue the beads to the outer part of the clothespin with superglue. There is no need to glue the sticks. Simply fold them crosswise and then secure them with a clothespin.

Three-dimensional picture

If you want your child to master appliqué, you can start with popsicle stick crafts. Let's learn from birds: we'll make chickens or a penguin.

Additionally we will need:

  • thick cardboard;
  • colored paper;
  • PVA glue;
  • decorative eyes;
  • paints;
  • any decor.

We place four or five sticks in a row on the cardboard (the pieces of wood must first be painted with gouache or other paints). We cut out the wings, “hair” and paws. All this needs to be carefully pushed under the edges of the sticks and glued. The eyes need to be “planted” with glue.

To make an applique in the shape of a penguin, we use the same technique. The outermost sticks can be lowered to make paws. We draw the white breast on top of the glued sticks, since it is impossible to do this in a disassembled state.

Pencils

To make pencil holders, you will need a significantly larger number of Popsicle sticks.

Additionally, let's take:

  • any cardboard boxes (can be for tea);
  • paints;
  • decorative materials;
  • Super glue;
  • PVA glue.

First you need to paste the box around the perimeter on all sides. To make the structure more stable, add horizontal fixing sticks inside.

Second attempt to load MK. Sorry, but something went wrong while loading and some of the photos with text disappeared.
Good day, dear needlewomen!
There are times when you want to congratulate a lot of people, but you can’t get enough of them all... I made such small gifts for the workers of the kindergarten where I worked before and for my friends. I gave it to my teachers. I didn’t even expect that such small prizes could evoke a sea of positive emotions. They even took me to show it to after-school care to do it with the children. So I decided to upload these ideas here too. Maybe it will be useful to someone.

Materials used:
-PVA glue
- ice cream sticks
- clothespins
-acrylic paints
-tassel
-varnish
-decor elements

It is best to use PVA glue for gluing. I made my first stars for an article in a magazine. This idea has been in my head for a long time. So I ate ice cream very heavily all summer. I glued them with hot glue. I thought it would be easier and faster. But it turned out to be neither easier nor faster. The sticks often came unglued from each other. It wasn't always neat. I tried to glue the latter ones using PVA glue. It turned out to be much more convenient, neater and easier.
First we glue our top and secure it with a clothespin. Apply glue for the next stick.

We glue it, fix it with clothespins and, if necessary, remove excess glue with a cotton swab.

Glue the third stick, fix it and turn the future star over. Apply glue to the back side.

Glue the last stick. Let's see if all the sticks in the corners are aligned. If necessary, we adjust it. This is a big plus of this glue; you can’t do that with hot glue.

The drying time for each glue is individual. It took me 15 minutes. Over the course of the evening I was able to make 20 stars and paint them with acrylic. The next day I coated them with varnish. This photo was taken for a magazine. The gluing method has not yet been precisely determined. To be honest, I had a hard time with them back then. The sticks kept peeling off and the glue was often visible.
The option I found described above turned out to be very simple and easy to implement. But as they say, simple ideas don’t only come to your head. At the moment I have already seen stars on the Internet. True, they are glued together differently, in my opinion more difficult.

Garlands look best on “bare” windows. I got a little lost against the background of a small curtain. It was necessary to do only with red and green. I also hung them on a horizontal stick at different lengths. I also hung it from the window. It looks very nice both from the street and inside. But it was not possible to take good photographs. The glass reflects the entire situation and everyone gets lost in the photograph.

I made a lot of pendants. If there are sparkles, they should be sprinkled on immediately after applying the varnish so that they stick well.

We decorate with everything we have at home. It looks very nice as a decorative element for packaging a New Year's gift on the simplest wrapping paper.

Now skis.
We will need:
-PVA glue
- clothespins
- ice cream sticks
-buttons
-acrylic paints
-sandpaper
-thick yarn for handles and thread for hanging
I saw this idea in a magazine last year. These skis were used as a decorative element for gift packaging. It should be noted that the simplest packaging paper with such small elements looks very interesting and not hackneyed.

First we paint the sticks. After drying, we go over the sharp spots with sandpaper. Create the effect of old skis. We glue them together using PVA.

Break off the sharp ends of the toothpicks on one side. We paint with white acrylic. Once it dries, we put our buttons on the toothpicks. Since the buttons consist of two parts, I specially took a close-up photo to make it clear what they look like. We paint the handle black and glue our black lace. We glue them together using Moment Crystal glue. My tube is in such a state that I was already ashamed to photograph it with all the materials used.

Then we glue them using the same glue to the skis themselves. I made them both as pendants and as refrigerator magnets.

I wanted to do more, but it turned out that there weren’t enough buttons in the house. That's bad luck...

Such ideas have been floating around on the Internet for a long time. But everyone designs it in their own way. I also couldn’t resist making such a snowman.
Materials:
-PVA glue
- ice cream sticks
- clothespins
-acrylic paints
-double-sided tape
-magnets
-brown felt-tip pen
-cardboard
- black peppercorns
-ribbons and other decorative elements

I’ll say right away that I glued these snowmen using PVA and connected them using double-sided tape. Of course, it’s easier and faster with tape, but you don’t always have it at home. Therefore, if we glue using PVA, then we can make a device so that the sticks are all together and at the same height. Place the tape on the cardboard, sticky side up. We fasten the ends to fix this strip. Carefully lay out the sticks. I specially drew a line at the top to make it easier to maintain the same height. When everything is laid out, measure how much will need to be cut from a horizontal stick. It shouldn't reach the edge. Apply glue to the stick itself. After everything is glued, we put it under the press. How long it takes depends on your glue.

We separate our snowman only when the horizontal sticks are firmly glued to the base! After that, we divide it roughly into parts. We paint the bottom one white, the top one black. When everything is dry, glue on the rim of our pot and secure it with clothespins.

This is what it looks like from the inside. I made them both as magnets and as pendants.

I no longer took photographs of how to cut out the nose and glue on the eyes. I will only add that instead of such eyes you can also use black peppercorns or draw them. The mouth can be made with the same or you can use black yarn. First I draw the mouth, then I thinly squeeze out PVA glue along the contour of the mouth and lay out the thread. Nose - I draw a carrot and outline it with a brown felt-tip pen to make it look more textured. I used thin cardboard and painted it with orange paint. I glued everything on PVA. I glued the scarves onto double-sided tape. We decorate with everything we have in the house.

What do children love most in the world? Of course, ice cream! And they love ice cream on a stick doubly because it is more interesting to eat than ice cream from a cup. Prudent parents will create a good platform for creativity if they save all the ice cream sticks that their children enjoy. In the future, they will be able to make crafts from ice cream sticks, turning them into the most unusual and very useful things.

A craft in the form of a photo frame will be no less useful. A DIY photo frame made from popsicle sticks can be made by a child of any age – working on it will not be difficult. All that is required from the child:

paint sticks in different colors;

wait until they dry well;

glue them together in the form of a square, placing sticks of the same color opposite each other;

glue two more sticks so that the top and bottom sticks are “soldered” between them;

“Solder” horizontal sticks between two vertical ones
"Soldered" sticks

Decorate the frame with pictures, stickers or small appliqués.

Another simple option for a useful craft is a bookmark. It's easy to make if you have a few pieces of felt or foam board, as well as tiny toy eyes.

Use your imagination and you will get the most unusual bookmarks in the shape of animals.

But if parents are interested in useful products, then children are more attracted to homemade toys. And in this case, sticks can also serve well - from them you can make a whole flotilla of airplanes that any boy will like.

From a plastic container, a package of processed cheese and ice cream sticks you can make a surprisingly impressive flying saucer.

Or you can make a real puppet theater with funny actors and beautiful scenery.

To make dolls, you need to stock up on:

  • double-sided tape;
  • colored cardboard;
  • knitting yarn;
  • glue;
  • pieces of chintz or calico;
  • satin ribbons, beads and other decorations;
  • a simple pencil, white paper and scissors.

First of all, you need to draw clothing patterns on a white sheet of paper. We are preparing two sets at once - men's and women's.

We cut out the patterns and transfer them to fabric. We decorate the patterns with buttons, bows and fabric appliqués.

Glue or sew Velcro to the back of the clothing.

We are preparing the pupae.

We wind brown knitting yarn onto the brush. We remove the skein from the brush, intercept it in the center with a double thread. Let's tie it up. We cut the yarn at the folds. The result is voluminous hair.

Glue it to a stick, which will be a boy. Let's make the girl's hair lighter. We supplement the figures with toy eyes, handles and pieces of Velcro to which the clothes will be attached.

We choose a costume, attach it - and our doll is ready! It will be very interesting for the youngsters to select and change clothes for such dolls.

You can make simpler dolls by simply gluing paper clothes, hairstyles and eyes onto an ice cream stick.

You can make a real puppet theater with a stage!

As decoration you can do:

Fence. You can easily use Popsicle sticks to make a picket fence in which you can place animals, thereby creating the image of a farm.

Furniture. The simplest option is a bench and a table, which can be used to decorate your home and yard. Look at the video on how to make a home decoration from popsicle sticks: Box made from popsicle sticks Box in the shape of a triangle

If small items will be stored in the box, stick the sticks vertically onto the transverse base, pressing them tightly against each other. This craft can also be decorated with a funny applique.
