Bookmark made of felt. Felt corner bookmark for books How to make felt bookmarks with your own hands

“People stop thinking when they stop reading” D. Diderot

The Internet is gaining more and more fans every day, but we do not stop reading printed publications. What do we use as bookmarks for books? A candy wrapper, a pencil, or even worse, bending the corner of the page? But you can make a beautiful bookmark for a book with your own hands, which not only serves to quickly find the desired page of a book, but is also a beautiful original accessory.

The Hobby Territory website contains a variety of ideas for creating bookmarks for books. Today we propose to add another idea to the collection and sew a bookmark from felt in the shape of a bunny with a carrot. Such a fun and pleasant to the touch bookmark will help you not to lose the right page in the book. A bookmark in the shape of a little bunny will definitely please your child and will help make the process of reading a book more interesting.

To work you will need:

  • felt in blue, red, white and green colors;
  • threads of blue, white, red, green colors;
  • needle;
  • satin ribbon;
  • black beads.

Master class felt bookmark “Hare with carrots” for a book with your own hands:

We transfer the pattern of the bunny bookmark with carrots to paper and cut out the details. We cut out the details of the future bookmark from felt:

  • two parts of the hare’s body are made of blue felt;
  • the muzzle and belly of the hare are made of white felt;
  • two parts of a carrot and one part of a nose – made of red felt;
  • two pieces of carrot tops are made of green felt;
  • cut a piece of satin ribbon.

We sew the muzzle and belly to one of the parts of the hare's body with white threads. We sew the hare's nose to its face with red threads. Sew on the eyes from black beads.

We sew the two parts of the hare's body together using a blanket stitch, inserting and securing a satin ribbon between its ears. If you don’t have a satin ribbon, you can replace it with a rope crocheted from Iris threads.

We sew together the parts of the carrot tops with green threads using a blanket stitch, inserting the second end of a satin ribbon between them.

We insert the green tops between the carrot pieces and sew them together using a blanket stitch with red threads.

The felt bookmark for children's books is ready!

Using the proposed pattern, you can make not only a bookmark, but also an original one for a child’s item. To do this, you need to cut out one part each of the hare’s body, muzzle and belly, sew all the additional parts onto the main one and sew the hare applique along the contour using hand loop stitches (or a thick zigzag stitch on a sewing machine) to the product.

I bring to your attention some easy-to-make DIY crafts made from felt and tin cans. It took to make pencil holders.

Dear colleagues! Let me introduce you to my “Book of Fairy Tales”! One of my hobbies is felt toys. In my opinion.

The world of handicrafts has no boundaries. Needlewomen use everything they can get their hands on to create their “masterpieces”. One of these materials.

Materials and tools: Soft felt 1mm (white, blue) Needle and thread in contrasting shades. Glue “Moment” Scissors Filler (sintepon).

A romance novel, a collection of poems, a cookbook or a thick textbook cannot be read in one day, which means that the ancient assistant - a bookmark is still needed today.

Make beautiful and practical bookmarks for yourself and your loved ones from felt in the shape of a tree with branches on which funny ladybugs will sit. Even a schoolchild who knows how to hold a thread and a needle in his hands can cope with such work. Felt accessories, unlike traditional paper ones, do not wrinkle or tear, and if necessary, they can even be washed.

Modest set of materials

For the master class you will need:

  • hard felt of different colors with a thickness of 1.2 mm;
  • three decorative buttons (for example, apple, ladybugs);
  • threads in the color of the fabric. You can use regular threads (folded in four folds) or floss.

Despite the simplicity of working with felt, we recommend that you look into it before starting the creative process.

Step-by-step master class on creating a felt bookmark

For the trunk, use orange, yellow, beige or light brown felt. Using scissors, cut two strips measuring 20 cm by 4.5 cm and two strips measuring 20 cm by 2.5 cm. The tree in the photo is made of orange material.

Start making your own felt bookmarks by preparing the parts. Use scissors to cut leaves from green leaf:

  • for a tree trunk - three leaves 3 cm long, 1.5 cm wide;
  • for twigs - two leaves about 3 cm long, 1.3 cm wide;
  • rectangle for grass - 3.5 cm by 1.5 cm;
  • a branch approximately 6 cm long, 1 cm wide.

Place a twig in the middle on one of the wide strips of orange felt, attach three leaves to it, and place a rectangle for the grass at the bottom of the trunk. Place a leaf (smaller leaves) on narrow strips. Connect the resulting composition with pins.

Sew all the pieces by hand using a regular needle forward stitch.

Embroider veins on the leaves. Sew a rectangle for the grass to the bottom of the felt bookmark.

Attach buttons to the tops of the upper leaves. In the center there is an “Apple”, on the outer branches there are “Ladybugs”. Sew them on carefully.

Narrow branches need to be cut in half each to make sewing easier.

Fold the cut parts together and connect them with a buttonhole stitch along the edge; you don’t have to sew the bottom, as it won’t be visible.

Take two wide rectangles, fold them together, place branches inside at any location and fasten them with pins.

Sew the entire tree around the perimeter with a loop stitch.

From the green sewn rectangle, cut triangles at the top to make grass.

This tree-shaped felt bookmark is ready to use.

If you make a lot of these, you won’t have to think about what to give to colleagues, classmates or classmates for all sorts of holidays. Such a useful little thing is needed at any age.

Look at others, including more complex crafts prepared by needlewomen especially for readers of the “Women’s Hobbies” site. This material is surprisingly simple and pleasant to work with, don’t miss the opportunity to master working with it.

No matter how fascinating the world of books is, it is not always possible to read a work “from cover to cover” in one sitting. A sudden phone call or the unexpected arrival of guests often forces you to stop reading at the most interesting point. In such cases, the most common ones come to the rescue bookmarks.

Perhaps someone will say that making bookmarks for books with your own hands is now unfashionable. Moreover, there are countless variations on the theme of cardboard bookmark-ruler on the market of modern printed products. But there is something subtly attractive in the perky face of a monkey or the long trunk of an elephant hanging from the page. Something reminiscent of home and mother’s hands that made this miracle. In addition, purchased bookmarks have the nasty ability to get lost at the most inopportune moment. Which, you see, is extremely unpleasant. Especially if this happened during a lesson, and the unlucky student has to leaf through the textbook for several minutes in search of the right page under the watchful gaze of a disgruntled teacher.

To prevent such embarrassment from happening to your child, we suggest doing DIY children's bookmarks. These little “creations” will not only reliably protect the desired page, but will also definitely cheer up their owner.

Felt bookmarks

Round bookmark Dog

This felt bookmark It will be “achievable” for anyone who knows how to wield scissors and a needle. To create it you will need felt or fleece in black, white and pink colors, pieces of red and blue felt, glue, cardboard, thread and some elastic.

Using the template, cut out three circles (from black, white felt and cardboard) and the rest of the details. Sew together the two pink parts of the muzzle using a blanket stitch and lightly stuff them. Sew the spot, glue the eyes and tongue to the white round piece, and sew the muzzle to it. Glue the entire white part to the cardboard circle. Between the black and white round parts, focusing on the drawing, place the ears and an elastic band and glue them. Sew the bookmark in a circle. If desired, you can bend and glue one or both ears. The felt dog bookmark is ready to decorate the cover, and inside there is an inconspicuous elastic band, which, nevertheless, reliably holds the pages in place.

Bookmarks Cat and Frog

I think one look at these two funny felt bookmarks enough to understand: they are made according to the same principle. You will need pieces of multi-colored felt, cardboard, a needle and thread, glue, a little holofiber for stuffing and eyes (half beads) for the cat.

The algorithm of actions is extremely simple.

  1. Cut out all the details from felt (or fleece) in the desired colors. If you want the finished bookmarks to bend less and retain their “sales appearance” longer, you can duplicate the body with cardboard or dublinin. In the latter case, bookmarks can even be washed.
  2. We design the head. To one part of the head we sew and lightly stuff (glue) the eyes, muzzle, nose, cheeks, embroider the mouth, mustache (you can draw it) and sew down the two parts of the head with a blanket stitch. Towards the end of sewing, we fill the head with holofiber.
  3. Sew the head to one of the parts of the body.
  4. We fold the parts of the body into a “sandwich”: felt, cardboard (dublin), felt and stitch it along the entire perimeter with a blanket stitch.

Fish Bookmark

Bookmark – Fleece fish

This bookmark is made using mixed applique and sewing techniques. All parts are cut out from fabric of the desired colors, and the main body part is also made from white cardboard. Actually, all other fabric parts are glued to it. Moreover, when connecting the parts of the “sandwich”, you must not forget about the ribbon or string to which the shells and the fish itself will be attached.

This cheerful dog will undoubtedly enliven the pages of even the most boring textbook. Making it will take no more effort than sewing bookmarks in the shape of a frog and a cat. And the principle of its creation is the same.

Well, for those who are attracted to such animal bookmarks, we offer templates with which you can sew a hippopotamus and Winnie the Pooh.

Happy crafting!

We all read books, at school, at university, and just in life. So what do we use as bookmarks? Calendars, small pieces of paper, basically anything we can get our hands on. Therefore, I suggest you make a cute felt bookmark today.

You will need:

  • embroidery thread, floss (color of your choice)
  • a small circle of dense double-sided non-woven fabric
  • elastic band

First, cut out two felt circles with a diameter of 7.5 cm. You can use the lid from a jar of baby food as a template.
Trace the outside of the jar lid on one of the circles. The line will go here. You will use it as a boundary that cannot be crossed. So, let's start embroidering the first bookmark. This will be a daisy made up of lazy Daisy stitches, they don't have to be perfect. Each flower petal is one stitch. Bring the needle to the front side of the felt at point A. Bring the needle to the back side near point A, backing off just a little, and then back to the front side at point B, keeping the thread under the needle so that a loop is formed.

The loop should lie freely and convexly. This is what it should look like. To secure the loop, bring the needle to the wrong side on the other side of the tape, to point C, and a straight stitch is formed above the loop.

Bring the needle back to the right side through point "A". This will allow the action to secure the small stitch at the top of the petal and will hold it in place. Now continue making petals with one touch point "A" to make a flower. It doesn't turn out perfect, but it's nice. Continue making flowers, placing them in a circle. The picture shows three flowers of the same color. Now add some more flowers of a different color and other details such as individual petals and small stars to fill out the space of the circle. After you have finished embroidering, put together the details of the future bookmark. Cut a circle from non-woven fabric with a smaller diameter than felt. Place the elastic in the center of the interlining circle and place the embroidered circle on top.

Sew all the layers together with felt-colored thread using a simple running stitch. Make sure you grab the elastic band as you sew. When you sew around the entire perimeter of the circle, the knot should not end up on the front (embroidered) side of the bookmark. Secure the thread, do not cut off the tail: bring the thread to the center of the back circle, without piercing the needle through all layers of the bookmark. Pull a little and then cut the thread near the felt. As soon as you cut the thread it will disappear inside. The knot will turn out nice and flat. Now you have a small bookmark. You can use it for its intended purpose. The bookmark is good, but it holds pages better in large books. For small books, the elastic band will be too loose. So let's make a second version of the bookmark. Silk ribbon works great. Here's the second bookmark! The ribbon can be tied and untied, making the bookmark suitable for both large and small books. For this bookmark we will cut out several flowers, petals and leaves from felt. Sew them on using a regular stitch, and embroider the center of the flowers with a French knot. Instead of an elastic band, we insert a silk ribbon between the layers of felt. This way, you can thread one end of the ribbon through the book and then tie the two ends together with a bow. Looks nice! You can choose your favorite bookmark!
