Gel nail coating without extensions. Step by step instructions. How to do a manicure with gel polish at home How to do gel nails yourself

Before you take up the file, you will have to understand the terminology. There are gels that are dried under a special lamp - an ultraviolet or LED lamp. And there are hybrids - they are less durable, but they do not need to be dried under a lamp.

It is harmful?

It all depends on the quality of the coating you choose. For example, the Essie Gel gel coating contains vitamins E and B5, which take care of the nail plate.

What do you need to know?

  • The base, color and top coat should be shaken well before applying to the nails.
  • Do not use different brands of base coat, color coat or top coat. This is not a marketing ploy. “Native” products work better together, which means your manicure will last longer.
  • Check which lamp the coating you have chosen works with. For example, Essie Gel only works with LED lamps. They are safer and high-tech.

How to apply gel coating?

Sand the nail plate with a soft manicure buffer.

Degrease your nails with a special product. Otherwise, the coating will not last longer than regular varnish.

Apply one thin, even coat of base coat. Place your hand in a special LED lamp for 30 seconds.

Apply one layer of gel. Place your hand in the LED lamp again for 30 seconds. This action must be done three times - according to the number of layers of varnish that you are going to apply.

Feel free to wipe your nails with a degreaser - it will remove the sticky layer.

How to remove gel coating?

Apply a special gel polish remover to a cotton pad, apply it to the nail plate and wrap your finger tightly in foil. After 15 minutes, remove the foil and remove the coating with a wooden stick.

What type of polish do you prefer – regular or gel polish?

To give your nails aesthetic beauty, it is not at all necessary to visit a specialist. Since making gel polish has become much easier today, you will master the technique even at home. We will describe the main points step by step and highlight what materials and tools you will need. Let's start!

How to make gel polish - selecting tools and materials

Before you get a high-quality manicure with gel polish, you need to make sure that you have all the equipment at home. What is needed for this?

Ultraviolet lamp

Of course, you can dry the coating without a lamp, but you will waste time and effort. To speed up the polymerization of the composition, purchase a UF or LED lamp. Choose a unit with a power of at least 36 watts. The cost varies from 1,500 to 3,000 rubles. It all depends on the manufacturer. The simplest lamp is suitable for use at home.

Nail clippers/scissors

Immediately before applying the coating, it is necessary to cut off the cuticle to ensure a neat manicure. Purchase stainless steel pliers or scissors from a professional store. The choice depends on what tool you are used to working with. The cost of scissors is 150 rubles, tweezers - 400 rubles.

Files, pushers, buffs

Since it is possible to make high-quality gel polish only if the nails are pre-prepared, you need to make sure you have the appropriate tools at home. Before applying the coating step by step, you will need to push back the cuticle with a pusher (orange stick), shape the nails (with regular files), and polish the surface (with a buff).

Degreaser

A degreaser, otherwise called a dehydrator, is required to pre-treat the nail plates. Thanks to this simple step, the gel polish will not peel off after 2-3 days. A degreaser is also needed to remove the sticky layer when the manicure is 95% done. You should not rely on the advice of “experienced” people who say that you can remove the sticky layer with alcohol or acetone.

Primer

Since it can be quite difficult to do a manicure with gel polish at home, don’t complicate your life. Follow the recommendations, buy a primer and everything else you need for this. The primer costs about 200 rubles for a 20 ml bottle. It is necessary for better adhesion of the natural plate to the artificial turf.

Base, top

It would not be amiss to mention that such concepts as “gel polish” and “shellac” represent the same composition. Shellac is just a well-known company that produces coatings of this kind. Before making gel polish, make sure you have a base (base coat) and top coat (finish coat) at home. The procedure is carried out step by step simply if you have tubes with these two compositions.

Colored gel polish

The main thing here is color, quality is given minor role. Choose a shade based on your personal preferences. It is not necessary to consider famous companies (such as Shellac), analogues will do. Better make sure that the base and top are good quality. Let's summarize - you can save a little on color.

Aids

Once your manicure is complete, you will need to soften your cuticles with a targeted oil. You can use any herbal product, but it is better to buy a product for treating the skin around the nails. Auxiliary products also include decorative elements (glitter, rhinestones, sequins, stickers, etc.). If the design is complex, purchase nail decorations.

Manicure with gel polish step by step: 6 steps

Now we will look at how to make a beautiful manicure with gel polish. At home you will need all the materials and tools. We have already found out what is needed for this.

STEP #1

Steam your hands in a bath of salt, push back the cuticles using a pusher. Trim off excess skin around the nail with tweezers or scissors. Arm yourself with a nail file, give the plates the desired shape of the free edge (square, oval, circle).

STEP #2

Before you apply gel polish, you need to take a buff and use it to remove the gloss from the nail plate. This procedure must be carried out at home. When the nails become matte, first degrease them step by step, then apply primer over the entire surface of the plates and the free edge. The primer will seal the ends.

Important! After degreasing, the primer is distributed, then base coat. Do not take a break longer than 15 minutes between applying primer and base. Otherwise, you need to apply 1 more layer of primer.

STEP #3

Let's apply the base. Roll the bottle gently between your palms, but do not shake to avoid bubbles. Distribute the product in a thin layer, not missing the free edges of the nails. Do not allow it to leak onto the cuticle and periungual ridges, otherwise remove the excess with an orange stick.

Important! In the process of distributing the base, follow the scheme: apply it to 4 fingers, dry in a lamp for a minute. Then treat your thumb and dry it separately. Further, all these manipulations are carried out with the second hand. You cannot apply varnish to all fingers (including thumbs) at the same time, otherwise the coating will flow to one side.

STEP #4

Let's start covering with color. The selected color is first applied in a thin layer and dried in a lamp for 45 seconds. Then a second layer is made, drying time is 1 minute. Same as the base, paint 4 nails first, then platinum on thumb. If the color is unevenly distributed, apply a third layer.

STEP #5

If decorations are used (rhinestones, stickers, etc.), now is the time to attach them, since it will not be possible to make gel polish with rhinestones or sliders after applying the finish. To attach elements at home, take a toothpick, gradually dip it into transparent varnish and grab the decorative element with the tip. Attach one rhinestone after another.

STEP #6

Next, the finish (top) is applied in a fairly dense layer. Again, don’t forget to seal the free edge by running the brush over it. Now remove the sticky layer using a dehydrator (degreaser). Soak a lint-free cloth in it and wipe nail by nail. Finally, moisturize your cuticles with oil. Ready!

Possible problems when applying gel polish

We found out what is needed to apply gel polish and looked at the step-by-step technique. But many masters are faced with the fragility of the result. Gel polish bubbles or falls off within a week, what should I do?

Problem #1. Gel polish disappears in 2-3 days

Many craftsmen are faced with the fact that the coating falls off in one piece literally 2 days after application. The problem is this:

  • you did not remove the cuticle, as a result of which it grew back and prevented the varnish from adhering firmly;
  • you did not remove the gloss of the nail with a buff, thereby reducing the duration of wear of the manicure;
  • you carried out a step-by-step application of gel polish on moisturized nails;
  • you used a low-quality primer or base;
  • you did not seal the free edge of the nail plates.

Before making gel polish, to extend its wear life, study all the steps again. At home, everything can be done in stages; there is no need to skip individual points.

Problem #2. Nails become brittle

If after application your nails become brittle, there are only 2 reasons for this:

  • you did not sand the plates with a buffer without preventing delamination at an early stage;
  • you have buffed the surface of your nails too much so that they become thin.

The solution is the following: when removing the gloss, do not rub the nail too hard with the buff. It is enough to run the tool over it 2-3 times to achieve a slight matte finish.

Problem #3. Voids under gel polish, cracks

If you notice that the coating is deformed, empty spaces appear between it and the nail, or the varnish becomes cracked, the reasons may be:

  • insufficient drying time in the lamp;
  • use of low quality topcoat;
  • The varnish was applied in thick layers.

Solution: increase the drying time, apply layers very thinly (it is better to do one more layer), use a high-quality top, primer, base.

Today we looked at how to make high-quality gel polish on your own at home. All equipment is described in stages, so you should not have any difficulties. Don't skip steps, prepare the necessary tools and materials, learn and gain experience! Good luck!

Even ordinary inflatable colorful balloons immediately create a feeling of celebration. What if they also fly or glow, if they are huge or have an unusual shape? What can I say, even for adults this can briefly return them to a carefree childhood. Many parents are happy to experiment and make gel balls with their own hands together with their children.

Which ones are better?

Round and oval, in the shape of hearts and various animals, foil or latex - all these are types of inflatable toys. What to choose so that the festive mood from such a cheerful design remains for the entire duration of the celebration, what to pay attention to? Is it possible and how to make a gel ball at home?

Of course, the quality of latex products, which are called “balloons,” matters. Gel, hydrogen or other volatile fillers stay longer inside the colored elastic shell if it is made well-known manufacturers. These include Italian, Belgian, American and other proven companies from manufacturing countries.

It is important to consider that:

  • latex balloons with helium last for 8 to 10 hours;
  • foil products can fly for several weeks.

The peculiarities of the molecular structure of helium are such that its particles quite easily penetrate the elastic shell of the ball. In order to extend the “life” of inflatable latex toys, they are treated from the inside with a specially produced substance - liquid plastic compound. Drying after a few hours, the substance forms a thin film inside the inflatable toy. Measures taken in this way increase the flight time of the balls several times. The composition is non-toxic, harmless to health and can be washed off with water.

For those who like to do everything themselves

How to make a gel ball at home? For fun you can use several pretty simple ways and get a similar result: take ordinary balls and fill them with volatile gas. To do this, you can use hydrogen or take a special container for gel balls.

If you need to prepare and blow a small number of colored bubbles, you can use the following “innovative” ideas:

  • use the reaction of copper sulfate with table salt;
  • obtain gas from the combination of soda and acetic acid.

When you plan to make jewelry from a large number of elements, it is better to use a container for gel balls.

Domestic fireflies

Completely unusual glowing balls can be obtained by inserting mini-LEDs inside each ball before filling them with helium or gas. Powered by small batteries, they can be pleasing to the eye as long as they fly near the ceiling. Most often, luminous elements from keychains, small flashlights, pens or other similar toys are used for this. After the balloons are deflated, the flashlights are removed and the batteries are disconnected. These elements can be used repeatedly in preparation for another holiday or party. The result is a completely unusual effect of fireflies flying under the ceiling.

Method one: acid and soda

How to make a gel ball at home? You need to proceed as follows:

  • mix a glass of water with 1 tablespoon of baking soda and pour everything into a bottle;
  • another 3 tablespoons of soda are placed inside the ball;
  • in a shallow cup, combine the juice of half a lemon with three tablespoons of vinegar;
  • carefully, using caution, pour the vinegar mixture into a bottle of water through a funnel;
  • Quickly pull the prepared ball onto the bottleneck and secure with electrical tape or a strong rubber band.

The gas released during the violent interaction of these substances will quickly inflate the balloon. You should remove the bubble from the bottle and tie it tightly with thread. In order not to release gas from the bottle in vain, you should prepare all the balls in advance. In each of them (except the first) you need to pour 2 tablespoons of soda and place it next to it.

Method two: salt and copper sulfate

How to make a gel ball at home? This option requires good preliminary preparation. You will definitely need the following substances and items:

  • a little copper sulfate;
  • regular table salt;
  • water;
  • liter plastic bottle;
  • a piece of thick aluminum wire;
  • hose;
  • disposable syringe.

You need to make two holes in the plastic bottle cap. One end of the prepared hose is inserted into one, and a syringe with an aluminum rod attached to it is inserted into the other (small). Use a wire to stir the mixture inside the bottle. Balls will be attached and secured to the second end of the hose. Place a little copper sulfate, salt and water in a plastic container. After all substances are completely dissolved, the bottle is tightly screwed on with a lid. The aluminum rod should sink into the blue water.

The reaction that begins occurs with a strong increase in temperature and usually causes the container to become very hot, so it is better to place the eggplant in a basin or bowl of water. The released gas will very quickly inflate colorful balloons, lifting the spirits of the participants in the action.

Every girl dreams of beautiful manicure. After all, it gives a well-groomed look to the hands and pleases its owner with a unique design. But unfortunately, not all girls can grow long and strong nails. Many people face the problem of fragility. Then, having broken one, you have to cut off all the others, which are so difficult to grow back. In this regard, innovative ways to create nails that you can only dream of come to light. Among them, gel extensions are actively gaining momentum. Using step by step instructions and by studying videos of manicure specialists, a novice master will be able to recreate the technique at home.

Variety of gels and extension techniques

Among the many modern tools to give nails a perfect look, gel extensions are rapidly gaining popularity. The gel is a viscous substance that hardens when irradiated in a UV lamp or from exposure to a special activator. Material happens different types. There are several systems for creating artificial nails. Transparent construction, camouflage color and stained glass gels are used, and techniques consisting of one, two and three stages are applied.

The three-stage technique involves the use of a base, a constructor and a top. Two-phase is distinguished by the absence of a separate substance for modeling and uses only base and top. Construction occurs with a foundation gel. In a single-phase system, one type of substance is consumed for all three phases.

A clear gel is needed to build the nail. They create a shape and use it as a basis for design. During playback, a single-phase system is used. Camouflage has a translucent texture with a hint of pink. The colors may be different, but the same range is maintained. From it you can create nails that are closest to natural. They work with it using a three-stage method. The colored one is applied to the transparent one, depending on the design - it covers the extended tip or the entire plate. Stained glass gel is always a transparent substance with multi-colored shades. It is used in a single-phase system and is self-leveling. It is also used for design.

The listed materials have different purposes, so it is impossible to say for sure which one is better. After all, if any of these methods were inferior to others, then they would have abandoned it a long time ago. Therefore, the type and construction method should be selected based on the expected appearance.

Gel reconstruction methods

There are two fundamentally different ones. The first involves the use of tips. Tips are an artificial imitation of a nail made of a special substance similar to plastic, which are attached to a natural plate, and the connecting and strengthening material is glue and a building gel. Tips vary in rigidity and the more elastic they are, the more natural it looks. The second technique is designing onto a form for extensions. They vary into upper and lower. They themselves resemble a kind of stencil filled with a gel coating.

Square tips are most often used for extensions. Almond-shaped tips for colored tips imply the presence of a certain design.

More details about the methods: advantages and disadvantages

Gel extensions on tips take much less time than working with forms - on average an hour and a half. Due to its simplicity, design using tips costs less - from about 1,500 rubles. However, plastic nails have some disadvantages. They can move away. If you glue them incorrectly, air will remain under the artificial fragment, and this is an environment for the development of fungus. The stress zone - the junction of real and artificial nails - is weakly strengthened with this extension. It's not very difficult to break it. And since the tip is attached with fairly strong glue, most likely, part of the living nail will come off with the tip. If this happens, significant damage will be caused to the plate, not to mention the pain experienced. In a word, this type of design is suitable for neat girls with a standard plate who save their time.

Form extensions are a more lengthy process and can last longer than three hours. This is due to the long drying time and creation of the architecture of each layer. Thanks to the design on the forms, it is possible to correct imperfections and give the nails a perfect look. They are strengthened from base to tip and become quite difficult to break. The modeling event eliminates the entry of air under the extended part, which will not allow harmful microbes to develop and prevent peeling. This is more expensive than tips - starting from 2300 rubles. Prices vary among different specialists, but they are always higher for forms. Such nails are more difficult to break than those extended with tips. The lack of versatility of plastic bases gave impetus to a new technique - arched extensions.

Disadvantages of designing on tips as the reason for the occurrence of arched extensions

The problem with nail extensions is that it is impossible to adjust the shape of the nail. Although they are faster to model, they are only suitable for those with regularly shaped nails. In fact, the usual lengthening occurs, wide nails look even wider, those growing upwards are raised, and those that grow downwards are bent. In this regard, in Lately A fundamentally new method of constructing gel molds is gaining popularity. The so-called arched extension solves all the problems faced by owners of non-standard nails, namely trapezoidal or growing upward (springboard) or downward (eagle beak). Nails extended in this way are formed taking into account the relief of the nail plate, making them grow straight and similar to each other. They last for about 3 weeks, after which correction will be required. The interesting thing is that if you use this technique for about a year, the nail plate is leveled, it becomes narrower, the nail lengthens and becomes stronger. This type Only a highly qualified specialist who has undergone expensive training can do this. This is because it is very difficult to create a new perfectly rounded architecture with the correct geometric proportions. The main difference between an arched nail is the shape of the bend, which should be 25–50% of the circumference.

Necessary items for designing nails at home

Things from the list above will be needed by those who decide to model their nails themselves:

  • several files of different hardness, for example, abrasiveness 80/80, 100/100, 120/120;
  • polishing buff for the nail surface;
  • a set of brushes for manicure;
  • a primer that ensures adhesion of the artificial part of the nail to the real one;
  • orange stick as a pusher;
  • small scissors for manicure;
  • cutter for cutting excess length of tips;
  • dust brush;
  • tips or shapes (depending on what to build on);
  • glue for tips, if used;
  • ultraviolet lamp;

Step-by-step instructions for beginners: extensions with tips

  1. First you need to process and file your nails, remove the cuticle and protect them with an antiseptic.
  2. You need to choose suitable tips that are slightly wider than your own nails.
  3. Degrease the surface of the nail. If it is not smooth, you should use gel before gluing the tips to level the plate.
  4. Apply glue to the tips from the reverse side, focusing on the marks. At an angle of 70 degrees, gradually apply the tips to the nail plate, squeezing out the air from under them.
  5. After holding each nail motionless for about 1 minute, release it and then begin the straightening process. File the protruding artificial nail down to the level of the real one and trim it to the desired length.
  6. Next, apply the construction gel, dry for 3 minutes and then file to the required shape.
  7. Apply two more layers of gel corresponding to the selected extension system. Polish the surface if necessary, add design.

Step-by-step instructions for constructing molds

When building onto forms, there are similarities in some stages with working on tips.

  1. Hands are disinfected and degreased.
  2. The primer is applied at a distance of 1 mm from the base of the nail. Great care is required; it should not get on the skin.
  3. Apply a layer of base with the same care and dry for 3 minutes.
  4. The most suitable stencils without gaps are used. The gel is placed on the mold and dried for 2 minutes.
  5. Camouflage gel is used to form the curve and edge.
  6. The area where the natural nail and the gel nail meet must be thickened more than the edges. After application, dry for 8 minutes.
  7. The sticky layer is removed with a nail file. The design determines further actions.
  8. If you want to get a French look, you need to apply several layers and dry each for 40 seconds. Remove the stencils and apply a special clamp for 5 minutes. After this, remove the clip, shape it with a file, cover it with finishing gel and dry the nails for 2 minutes.

Possible errors when building up

Basic set for a beginner nail extension artist:

Sometimes, seemingly newly grown nails begin to peel or crack in the stress area. In this case, most likely the technology was broken at some stage. Some of the possible mistakes when building up:

  • perhaps, when polishing the native nail, it was over-cut, which made it too thin and all subsequent actions were in vain;
  • Inappropriate shapes may have been used and gaps may remain;
  • during work, air got under the tips;
  • poor degreasing before the procedure, primer getting on the skin;
  • improper formation of the center of gravity on the nails;
  • using old blunt objects;
  • applying design varnish before the top layer;
  • improper removal of the previous coating;
  • violation of other gel modeling techniques.

Gel extensions appeared in connection with the problem of fragility and the inability to grow long nails correct shape. And it successfully solves this problem. Two types of extensions are popular among girls around the world at approximately the same level. Despite the fact that arched nail extensions are much better due to their strength and the ability to adjust the shape, doing such nails at home is very problematic. And not everyone wants to mess around for 3-4 hours. Therefore, tips do not become obsolete. This is the simplest and quick way gel extension, it can easily be done at home using suitable tips and following the technology. If the procedure is carried out correctly, the risk of nail detachment is minimized and the disadvantages of this extension become not very significant. One way or another, both types are successfully used, the choice is only up to the fair sex.

Gel manicure at home is quite an affordable procedure if you have patience, desire, and also a gel manicure kit, which consists of necessary tools and materials. Why is gel technology gaining popularity, what is required to perform it and how is the gel manicure procedure carried out? We will understand all this step by step in this article.

Advantages and disadvantages of gel manicure

Gel manicure is very popular among modern young ladies for a number of reasons:

  • for its implementation can be used, which does not contain any harmful components, but only useful ones;
  • biogel helps strengthen the nail plate;
  • gel nails- this is a kind of “packaging” that helps eliminate fragility and delamination of the nail bed plate;
  • gel nails do not require correction with a nail file, which prevents unnecessary injury to the plate;
  • has a varied palette of colors and allows you to apply modern decorative elements;
  • Resistant to wear and tear in domestic conditions.

Gel manicure has a very small drawback - it is not able to lengthen the nail, the length of your plate remains natural. In principle, for many young ladies this is not a disadvantage, since recently natural length nails have become fashionable.

Set of tools and materials for gel manicure

In order to give yourself a high-quality and technologically advanced gel manicure, you will need to stock up on all the necessary tools. Such a set can be purchased at a specialized store or formed independently by purchasing everything separately. The set may seem expensive to you, but based on the total number of visits to beauty salons and payment for procedures, it will still be cheaper. And as a bonus, the opportunity to do something creative with your own hands.

The standard gel manicure kit sold includes:

  • UV lamp;
  • a set of gels of various shades;
  • base gel and topcoat gel;
  • brushes of various sizes for applying coatings;
  • orange sticks;
  • instructions for using the kit.

Also, for independent work you may need standard manicure accessories and additional materials:

  • nail clippers, nail file, spatula, triangular tweezers;
  • knipsers;
  • cotton wool or cotton pads for treating nails;
  • cuticle softener;
  • nail polish remover (without fatty components).

Sequence of the procedure

At home, you can start learning gel technology with a single-color coating of the nail plate. Before starting the gel coating, you need to put your nails in order according to the standard scheme - moisten them in a bath, push back the cuticles with an orange stick, remove hangnails and give the desired shape. Next, we move on to the coating procedure step by step:

  1. Clean and degrease the surface of the nails using nail polish remover.
  2. Apply the base gel (base) to the entire surface of the nails, carefully covering the sides.
  3. Dry in a UV lamp for exactly 2 minutes.
  4. Now you can start applying the gel of the shade you need, apply the composition as carefully as possible, without going beyond the boundaries of the bed. Try to apply as little gel as possible, because if the layer is too thick, your nails will look ridiculous and not at all attractive.
  5. We dry the nails in the same UV lamp until the composition is completely polymerized.
  6. Wipe off the sticky layer with a cotton pad soaked in degreaser.
  7. Apply a gel finish on top of your manicure. This is necessary to secure the design and add shine.
  8. The finishing gel also polymerizes in a light bulb.

Gel French manicure

Many women prefer the so-called French manicure. It works win-win in combination with different clothing styles. You can also do a gel French manicure yourself.

The sequence of work is somewhat different from a gel manicure with a single-color coating. After preliminary preparation of the surface of the nails, lubricate them with gel (base). We then continue the process like this:

  1. Using a thin brush with white shellac or regular gel, draw an arc along the edge of the nail from right to left to the center, i.e. draw a smile line.
  2. Then from the other side from left to right.
  3. Dry under ultraviolet light for three to five minutes.
  4. Apply a final layer of finishing gel.
  5. Dry with an ultraviolet lamp.
  6. Apply the finishing gel a couple of times. Dry with ultraviolet light after each use. By the way, you can make a smile line using special ones, so your manicure with gel polish will not have any flaws.

Gel coating allows you to use other techniques for applying complex patterns or decorative elements. But if you have never done this yourself, then it is better to contact a specialist. Creating any nail art will require patience, attention and time. If these qualities are inherent in you, then you can safely take on the job.
