Therefore, I ordered a samplebox of 6 scents so that I could easily “carry” them around at home and choose my own. Spirits entered it Epic, Jubilation, Honor, Gold, Reflection and Memoir(for which alone, in fact, this entire fragrant set was ordered). Judging by the visual characteristics, I have a hard time calling the contents of the samplebox “samples”: the perfume samples came to me in a beautiful white Amouage branded box, lined with white velvet. Each individual sample comes in a 2 ml bottle with a spray bottle and a gold cap. In short, it’s nice to hold even such a small thing in your hands. The Samplebox cost me only 38 euros, and since I ordered full-volume fragrances from other brands along with it, shipping can’t even be taken into account.

Santorini. A blue and white island under the hot rays of the sun. Red sandy paths rush up the steep slopes. We go from the sea to the very top, to Imerovigli. The heat melts everything around, and I feel the smell of the grass and laurel bushes pressed by the merciless sun, as the aroma of dust rushes into my nostrils - from the earth burned by the inferno. Yes, it’s a bay leaf and greenery in the hot sun, when you can barely walk up, when it’s hard to breathe from the heat and blinding rays. And if, to escape the heat, you go into the cool blue and white church, you can smell the incense and wooden benches there. This is what Epic smells like to me - heat, laurel, incense and dry wood. I don't hear anything Arabic in it.

Probably, what I value most in perfumes are associations - for me they are like memories enclosed in a bottle. Opening Jubilation, I return to my husband and I’s restaurant experiments with Indian cuisine...remembering dear evenings filled with romance and warmth.

If I had not once learned from G. Puccini's opera the story of the beautiful and stunningly tragic love of the geisha Cio-Cio-San for the American Pinkerton, I would never have become interested in this fragrance and would not have tried to understand it. Remembering the tragedy of her life and the betrayal of love, I understand why the Honour fragrance sounds so strange... It is built on a contrasting combination of delicate white flowers and harsh accords of incense, amber and leather. The aroma is complex in that it is both a fresh floral and a chypre oriental. These are two sides of one tragic life. The interweaving of tuberose, gardenia and lily of the valley symbolizes the bright, pure and selfless love of Madame Butterfly for the American lieutenant. In the first moments of applying Honor, I hear the splash of watermelon and the beautiful sound of white flowers. But, just as a beautiful love in life was followed by a heartbreaking drama, so the floral freshness is swept away by the bitterness of incense, amber and leather. The geisha committed suicide, leaving her little son to the traitor and his new wife... and the flowers in the composition of the fragrance withered, submitting to the deep astringency of the tragic oriental smells.
The scent is undeniably complex and beautiful in its attempt to convey musical tragedy. But, if we are abstracted from this story, then a constant feeling of deja vu is created; Honor has no originality, no character - it always seems that it resembles either Chanel, or vintage Lancome, or something else. It seems to lose its face in a sea of aromas. It fades away quickly and is not remembered, it does not touch the soul. It seems to me that the tragedy that the perfumer was trying to convey is not olfactorily felt in it.

My impressions of the scent:
Gold clearly echoes the good old Opium Yves Saint Laurent (classic version of the 70s), they are like twin brothers. To confirm my feelings, I checked the composition pyramids - and found an absolute match in all notes, my nose did not let me down. Rose, Lily of the Valley, Myrrh, Orris Root, Jasmine, Musk and Amber are also in the YSL creation. Tart and quite sharp vintage aroma. I love Opium, so I generally liked Gold, but I think the Arabian variant is a little less interesting. It lacks the sensual sweetness that YSL perfumes have and without which it seems somehow lifeless and emotionless to me. My husband really didn't like it.
