Cinnamon began to be used as a seasoning many thousands of years ago, and since then it has taken root in the recipes of many peoples of the world. However, with the growth of its popularity, not only culinary specialists, but also representatives of the handmade world began to pay attention to it, each time coming up with a new use for the unusual-looking spice.

Decorative crafts made from cinnamon sticks look cute and original, and therefore are often present in the homes of all those who like to decorate their interiors on their own. Most often, they are used in winter decor, characterized by an abundance of fir branches, snowflakes, warm materials, burlap and other items characteristic of the cold season.

Candlesticks

The most common products made from twisted cinnamon tree bark are candlesticks. They are quite simple to make, using improvised means as a supplement, and therefore you can create such items even with children of primary school age. In fact, there are several methods for making such decorative elements, but we will focus on the most common ones.

Option 1. Candles decorated with twine

To make these cute candlesticks you need to prepare the following: materials: 3 wide candles of the same size, 1 package of cinnamon sticks that are longer than the candles are tall, a roll of twine and 1 elastic band.

How to do: 1. Place a rubber band on the candle, making sure that the latter sits quite tightly on it.

2. Place the cinnamon sticks around it so that they are in close contact with each other. Secure each of them with an elastic band.

3. When finishing decorating the candles, tie them with twine in several layers, tying the last one in a bow.

4. If desired, place three candles in a row on a flat dish. Decorate them with natural elements in the form of nuts and similar fruits. They will look good both on a romantically set table and on a festive table designed for a small family.

Option 2. Glass candlestick

In this case, the manufacture of the candlestick itself is assumed. For him will be needed: a small glass jar, a glue gun and E 6000 glue, a small candle, a ribbon or cord, a package of cinnamon sticks, a piece of construction paper (optional) and a button.

How to do: 1. Wash the prepared jar thoroughly and dry.

2. Choose about 20 cinnamon sticks of sufficient length for it. They should completely cover the height of the jar.

3. Treat each stick with glue and glue it around the jar, pressing them tightly against the glass for 20-30 seconds.

4. If you plan to make a holiday candlestick, then you should attach a piece of paper with appropriate congratulations to it. Make a hole in one corner of the leaf and thread a thread through it. Cover the puncture site with a button, also threading it through one end of the thread used.

5. Wrap the latter tightly around the jar and tie it with a nice knot or thread it through the hole of the button, tying the loose ends under it. Trim the edges of the thread that are too protruding.

The decorative candlestick is ready. Now you can put a candle in it and safely light it.

And this is what a similar candlestick might look like, made from a candle enclosed in a glass stand and cinnamon sticks glued to it using the same glue:

It is not tied with anything, and therefore looks more natural and unusual.

Using these methods, you can actually create any shapes and types, decorated with anything: bright ribbons, tree branches, berries and other plant elements.

Wreaths

In addition to candlesticks, these spices can also be used to make molds. They can be made from many different elements, or simply from the cinnamon sticks themselves.

For example, it might look like this:

All that is needed in both cases is to find a suitable base and glue the sticks well to it, arranging them in a pre-thought-out manner.

Also, they will look good next to spruce branches and cones:

Decoration and table setting

If you need to decorate any holiday or wedding table, you can always use several cinnamon sticks, which can be placed on a napkin near the dish, or become an element of a separate table decoration.

One classic example is to place chopsticks next to cutlery:

They can also be attached to rolled linen napkins, adding viburnum berries to the composition:

Hot stand

In Alena Maslova’s handicraft workshop there is a wonderful tutorial that tells in detail how to make a hot stand from cinnamon sticks. For her will be needed: 8 cinnamon sticks, super glue, a square wooden base (its size should correspond to the length of the sticks), four circles for the legs (or something else), a small roll of twine, acrylic paint (preferably dark brown).

How to do: 1. Glue the legs to the board. Paint with acrylic paint. Wait until the product is completely dry.

2. Glue 8 cinnamon sticks (in one row) to the surface of the board or tie them with twine as shown in the photo below:

3. When wrapping the rope around the stick, tie it in two knots each time. Finally, secure the knots of the rope to the legs of the wooden stand.

Other decorative elements and decorations

With a lot of imagination, cinnamon sticks can:

- become a decoration for a decorative glass or vase:

- can be used to create bonbonnieres:

- turn into one of the decorative elements of the kitchen:

It’s also easy to make a New Year’s ball, a decorative panel and much more from cinnamon sticks. And jewelry masters are able to make chains and even earrings from them:

They look especially beautiful together with coffee beans and crafts made from them:

Each of the above-described decorations, in addition to originality, will be distinguished by a pleasant aroma and naturalness. In addition, it is easy to renew: if any part of the candlestick gets burnt, replacing it with a new cinnamon stick will not be difficult.

All kinds of unnecessary little things, of which everyone has plenty at home, polymer clay, etc. These items are always original, since they are made in a single copy. But at the same time, they do not have one important property, an essential component - aroma.

Remember what you associate with the New Year? It’s safe to say that in addition to the visual images of dressed up and floating outside the window, you will certainly remember the smells - tangerine, pine needles, fresh baked goods, chocolate, cinnamon... All these aromas are inextricably linked in our memory with, a family feast, a long-awaited meeting with loved ones – they make our memories vivid, complementing them with new sensations.

Today we will talk about how you can make your own crafts using spices . Such interior decorations will not only serve as decor, but also fill the room with an unforgettable aroma. At the same time, I would like to immediately say that spices can either be added to New Year’s accessories created from other materials, or be an independent decorative element. So, in the end, it’s up to you to make a craft from spices, or add aromatic notes to existing decorations for the New Year.

Probably the most A popular New Year's spice is cinnamon. . After all, it is customary to prepare many delicious things for the holiday, including homemade ones with the addition of cinnamon. To enhance the presence of this aromatic spice in the room, you can make several crafts from it.

For example it could be Christmas tree ball made from cinnamon sticks . To do this, you need to glue cinnamon sticks onto a regular New Year's ball (you can use a small plastic ball, in which case you will also need to glue a ribbon to it for hanging on the Christmas tree). If this option seems complicated to you, you can simply tie the cinnamon sticks with ribbon (string with decorations in the form of nuts) and hang this design on.

Next An option for using cinnamon sticks is to create candlesticks from them . To make one, you first need to glue a cardboard ring along the diameter of the candle, and then glue cinnamon sticks onto it. Additionally, you can decorate such a candlestick with ribbons, green branches, beads, etc.

They would look just as appropriate cinnamon sticks in Christmas wreaths . It is desirable that, in addition to cinnamon, other natural materials are also present - dried citrus slices, pine cones, berries - such a composition will look very organic.

Well, and, of course, cinnamon powder can be widely used in baking . Funny Christmas cookies, in the shape of little animals, can be hung on the Christmas tree, or simply placed in a beautiful dish under.

No less aromatic spice than cinnamon are clove sticks . At first glance, it may seem that it is completely impossible to beat them in an interesting way - but such an opinion is fundamentally wrong. From clove sticks, like from mosaic pieces, you can put together a whole picture, and in this case, oranges act as the “canvas”.

Make neat holes in the orange with an awl (you can also use a knife to make a pattern - grooves) and insert cloves into them. The drawing can be abstract or depict someone (something) - as you wish. Thus, you will combine two fragrant objects - orange and cloves, into one element.

So wonderful spices like bay leaf and black pepper - peas can also be used in New Year's crafts . Make a Christmas tree decoration by combining a dried orange slice, a bay leaf, and several dried berries - an unusual Christmas tree pendant is ready. In addition, from bay leaves glued to a cardboard cone, you can make the main New Year's symbol - a small Christmas tree that will look great on.

Black peppercorns are simply irreplaceable when creating culinary table decorations - eyes, nose, mouth, buttons and other small details of food figurines are made from it. Black pepper can also replace beads - when creating others - in this case, it is simply glued to the base.

Coffee beans , of course, are not a spice, but... The aroma of coffee always puts you in a good mood – what else do you need on holidays? Coffee beans make the most beautiful crafts - for example, the same Christmas trees - not only original, but also fragrant. Coffee beans can be glued to a base of any shape - it all depends on what exactly you want to make - a New Year's ball or a Christmas tree, or something else. In addition, coffee beans in crafts can be combined with other products - for example, peanuts, creating real mosaic paintings.

Recently, a very popular type of handmade work has become making soap at home . Homemade soap contains extremely healthy ingredients - and, in addition, it usually has a wonderful aroma. If you are familiar with the technology of making homemade soap, then you can give such a gift to your loved ones, using all kinds of aromatic additives as a filler, including spices. Such a gift will first smell fragrant in your home on the eve of the holidays, and then in the home of those for whom it was created.

Create decorations for the New Year holidays extremely interesting - you can experiment unlimitedly in this area. Try starting with using a variety of spices in your crafts – they will allow you to make your interior unforgettable, filling it with a wonderful, festive aroma.

For many of us, cinnamon is associated specifically with winter - this is the spicy mulled wine that is brewed at Christmas markets, and traditional cupcakes that are aged for at least a month, revealing the aromas of spices and seasonings, and simply beautiful and stylish decor that adorns gifts and New Year's compositions. By the way, decor with cinnamon- a very interesting topic that you can develop yourself by making something unusual and original with your own hands. You should not think that this is financially beyond your reach: real cinnamon sticks, of course, are very expensive, however, in all sorts of florist and decor stores you can literally buy cassia tree sticks for pennies - in appearance they are practically no different from the bark of a cinnamon tree, they have a very similar aroma, but due to the fact that they are found in nature much more often, they cost much less and because of this they are used for decorative purposes (and often, by the way, for culinary purposes: real cinnamon is not a cheap pleasure, so unscrupulous manufacturers sell it under its guise cassia powder). So, decor with cinnamon- looking for ideas for inspiration?
